Hundred Attend D. A. R. Meeting in Nelsonville

About one hundred delegates and guests gathered in Nelsonville for the Southeast District Daughters of the American Revolution conference hosted by Elizabeth Zane Dew Chapter. Leaders, including State Regent Mrs. Asa C. Messenger and district director Mrs. Rathburn, outlined winter plans and dedicated a bronze tablet at Central School honoring Daniel Nelson.

Doanville Man Convicted of Driving While Intoxicated

Nelsonville Raymond Pancake of Doanville found guilty of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated after a court hearing led by Mayor 8 G Holland. Sentence deferred to today as defense seeks a new trial. Also, Edward Byers charged with intoxicated driving was bound over to the grand jury under a $300 bond.

Clothing Drive For Nelsonville School Children

Due to a shortage of clothing and shoes about 30 students in the Nelsonville grade and high schools are out of class. An effort is under way to supply needed garments. Citizens are asked to donate usable clothing and shoes. A group of high school girls will call Friday between 3 and 5 to collect ready items.
