Silver Bridge Interchange Opens in West Virginia
The Silver Memorial Bridge interchange on West Virginia 2 near Point Pleasant will open to motorists Tuesday. The Ohio River bridge had opened in December 1969 after the Silver Bridge collapse. Bates and Rogers Construction Co. of Chicago won a $625,796 contract to build six land piers for the I 77 Elk River Bridge, now under construction near Charleston. The department also solicited bids on nearly $16 million of I 64 work in Kanawha County and I 79 work in Harrison County.
