Martha Jeannine Mohl celebrated sixth birthday with an afternoon party at 22 Elmwood Place hosted by C. M. and Mrs. Mohl. Guests included Beverly Hoskins Linnea Hoberg Lee Ann Rose Ann Smith Joan Court Susan Court Caralyn Williams Sally Weber Clark Williams Jr. and John Roseberry with games and cake.
Mrs John Heffken entertained a miscellaneous shower with state street flowers and pink accents on the refreshment table. The guest list included Mrs Lewis and many others such as Miss Rose Price, Mrs Herbert Kelly, Mrs John Wandling, Mrs Lewis Muzio, Mrs Herman Kempton, Miss Blanche Price, Mrs Karl McCune, Mrs Gabriel Guerra, Mrs Leonard Leach, Miss Virginia Walls, Miss Juanita Kempton, and Mrs Mason McBride. Mrs Frank Lewis could not attend.
Local clubs and organizations announce meeting times for October 3 and 4. Including Athens County Council for Childhood Education in Women's Faculty Club at 7 30 p m Iris Fierce on special education. Alpha Gamma Delta Alumnae at 5 30 p m. Presbyterian Church In Session 7 30 p m. Rebekah Lodge potluck 6 30 p m bring own service. Circle Seven 8 p m. Athens Grange 8 p m. Faithful Few Club 7 45 p m. Daughters of Union Veterans 1 30 p m practice for District Convention.
Albany Grange will observe Booster Night on Friday October 5 at 3 pm in the Grange Hall. A program will be presented and refreshments served. The event is open to the public and all are welcome. Sans Souci Club will meet Wednesday at 7 pm at Maryanne Ellis’s home, 105 Franklin Ave. The CMC Club will meet Wednesday at 7 pm at Pat Kern’s home, 66 Central Ave. Kathleen Shumway is slowly recovering after surgery at Sheltering Arms Hospital. Room 205 is her location and visitors may come by week’s end.
Mrs C C Foulk is honored by an informal Sunday gathering at the Voigt home in Athens as sister of the host, who traveled from Manhattan New York. Detroit guest Howard Deckard and Prof William H Fenzel entertain at 19 Park Place with motion pictures of Brazil. Deckard formerly Ford executive and OU athlete. guests include local families and professors.
Wayne B Heil and Eleanor Fuller announce their engagement. Miss Fuller, a Hamer Union High School and Bliss Business College graduate, works at Brown Manly Plow in Malta after stints with the State Civil Service Commission. Heil, a Petty Officer 2c in the U S Navy, recently returned from the Pacific on leave and is assigned to a naval base near Seattle. He previously studied at Ohio University in Athens.
Mrs. Erie Mullins hosted a chicken dinner at 6 30 Wednesday September 26 to entertain the Eighth Grade football team from Central. Attendees included Nickey Parkus Dewey Laughlin Red Evans George English Jerry Evans Richard Hanihg Jack Rake Skippy Dent George Good and Leroy Mullins. Unable to attend were Philip Nye and Fred Stair. The home team tied the Mechanicsburg Eighth Grade boys 0 0.
Kelley of 32 Elliott St lists Corporal Cullum who enlisted December 7, 1942 and served with the 31st Chemical Company. He earned five Battle Stars, Arrow Head, Croix de Guerre with palm and Good Conduct Medal with service in England France Luxembourg Belgium and Germany. After a visit here Mr and Mrs Callum and son plan to return to WDC where he worked for the Civil Service Commission. Guthrie Young Wedding reports the marriage on September 8 of Mr E Guthrie and Mrs Edna Young of Cincinnati. Mr Guthrie, a Chillicothe real estate broker, and Mrs Guthrie reside at 13 East Second Street in Chillicothe.
