Wholesale prices rise in September barely ahead of August

U S Labor Department reports a six tenths per cent rise in the wholesale price index in September led by farm products up 4 3 per cent and industrial commodities up seven tenths per cent The monthly data note seasonal adjustment quirks and plans to revise methods in 1976 while unemployment remains around 8 4 per cent with claims and benefits easing slightly.

Dayton men indicted for aggravated murder and abduction slaying

Two Dayton men Herman Lee Moore and Willis Leroy were indicted by the Montgomery County grand jury on aggravated murder kidnapping and extortion in the abduction and killing of businessman Lester C. Emoff. Conviction on murder could bring the death penalty. In a separate note Cleveland judge David Matia said he sometimes hides a .38 revolver in a hollowed lawbook for protection in court.
