Gov. Alf M. Landon gains high level support as Alfred E. Smith and Herbert Hoover back his presidential bid. Smith declares cross party backing while Hoover outlines campaign plans and joins Landon after a five hour visit.
Police continued a search for Otis E. Berry age 26 of Alger after he entered a not guilty plea in magistrate court on charges of holding up the Galena bank 14 miles east of here. The case awaits grand jury action.

Elizabeth Criswell of Cambridge and Beatrice Fisher of Cleveland are appointed district field supervisors under the Ohio Social Security program. Criswell will supervise public assistance in the southeastern counties including Washington, Athens, Meigs and Morgan. She previously led the Junior Red Cross in Washington, D. C. and spent two and a half years with the Kentucky Relief Administration.
W F Wiley of Cincinnati was named a member of the Ohio commission on the abatement of stream pollution and floods by Governor Davey. Two more members will be appointed, with a potential meeting of state commissioners for the Ohio River drainage area planned soon as other commissions are formed.
