A six team league featuring Brooks Shoemen Mechems Central Stars Austin Powder Bombers Murray City and Shines Beer and Lunch of Logan opens Monday at Central Pool and Bowling Alleys. The season runs the opening week schedule twice against five rivals with a later complete schedule to be announced.

Nelsonville Episcopal Church held its annual supper in the basement on Wednesday with seating for 40. Guests included Rev. and Mrs. Randoff of Lancaster among the attendees.

Will Observe Communion at Nelsonville Church Sunday

The local Presbyterian Church in Nelsonville will observe world wide communion Sunday at 10 30 am. Members near and far were mailed letters and asked to attend and return their attendance slips. Tokens are used for the first time in almost 200 years, paper tokens patterned after early Princeton era examples. The church notes the United States Presbyterian Church’s global missions and 3 000 workers plus 10 000 ministers and 1 265 churches in China Japan India Africa the Philippines and South America. This marks the first worldwide communion on a specified day.

Plan Rally Day At Doanville Community Center

Rally Day will be observed at the Doanville Community Center Sunday at 10 AM with music by the Union Furnace Orchestra and speech by Judge Louis Tyroler. Prizes honor the largest family and the oldest and youngest attendees, followed by a 7:30 PM picture show by the United States Forestry Service. The Ross County Livestock sales report lists receipts of 738 head with hogs trading $10.65 to $12.25 per cwt and sows $9.70 to $11.35. Cattle saw steers $4.60 to $9.65 and fat cows $5.60 to $7.20, veal calves up to $12.75, and sheep with lambs at $8.10 to $10.00.

Mrs Bolinger Dies At New Plymouth

Martha Ann Bolinger 78 died Thursday evening at her home New Plymouth Route 1. Funeral services Sunday at 2 PM at Asbury Church with burial at Mt Zion. Widow of John Bolinger who died 13 years ago. She leaves three sons Oscar Orland at home Verne of Pomeroy and daughter Mrs Maude Tremain of Logan.

Nelsonville court arraigns two on intoxication and fighting

In Nelsonville Woodrow Reynolds appeared before Mayor S G Holland on charges of intoxication and quarreling and fighting and pleaded guilty to both. He was fined five dollars and costs on the first charge and ten dollars and costs on the second. Walter Keplar of Nelsonville pleaded innocent to quarreling and fighting and posted a fifty dollar bond for appearance at a trial set for Wednesday afternoon October 6 at two oclock.

Pastor Leads Communion and Attends Anniversary Services

Nelsonville pastor L. Morrison conducts the communion service at Church of Christ with special Sunday School programs. Rev. Leland Goodman attends the anniversary service of Rev. and Mrs. McCollum in Alliance Ohio as their ministry case doubled church membership since 1917. About 1,000 are expected at morning services with daylong events. Goodman returns Monday morning.

Nelsonville crowd sees Chevrolet safety film at garage show

Nearly 600 guests attended The Mac Chevrolet Company display in Nelsonville with J C Hallett, watching a three reel Chevrolet Motor Car Company sound track. The program included a safety film and a circus training ground scene while local youth performed songs and speeches. Two showings were needed due to the crowd size.

Charles Price Dies At Portland Home

Charles Junia Price aged 80 died at his Portland home after a yearlong illness. Funeral services will be held there Saturday at two o'clock with interment in Browning Cemetery. He leaves a widow and two sons Albert A and Joe Lincoln of Charleston W Va.
