CCC Camps Proposed to Aid Jobless Girls in Nation
Washington officials announced approval of 50 feminine CCC camps under the relief program to employ about 5,000 needy girls. Planned centers under the WPA will operate in Rhode Island Arkansas Florida Oklahoma Missouri South Dakota and Tennessee with four month stays and five dollars monthly plus subsistence and clothing. Each girl will receive about thirty nine dollars monthly for room and board and perform daily work including domestic science handicraft hospital supplies and repairs. Some camps will place girls in tree and plant nurseries supervised by the forest service. The work is described as light.
