Fifty Years Of Married Life Celebrated In Ohio Family
Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Pratt of 38 South Cemetery street celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary with a dinner party. The event honored by children presenting a Morris chair, with many Pratt relatives from Athens Wheeling Parkersburg Toledo Findlay Columbus Hebbardsville and Athens in attendance. Mr. Pratt wed Elza Jane Long on November 27 1870 and the couple raised ten children with twenty grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He served three years in the Civil War and has long been a Prohibition party member.

Maria Gaugenbacker aged 177 died Sunday at Athens State hospital from acute dysentery. Her body was shipped to Portsmouth for burial by Undertaker Baughman. She had been a patient at the Athens institution for over 15 years.
