Dr Alberta Read of the U S department of chemistry has become the nation's leading expert on tea. She exposed importers coloring green tea with harmful chemicals to boost appeal and developed a universal test now widely used. She also reported household black pepper often mixed with ground seeds and other foreign matter.
Washington officials posted an average fourteen percent wage raise for miners returning to work across Indiana Illinois Ohio and western Pennsylvania. The move aims to end the strike with government troops promised to protect returning workers and warnings against coal supply restrictions under the Lever Act. Details of the new scale to be worked out at a Wednesday operators meeting.
The hunger strike by sixty-seven alien anarchists on Ellis Island ended as sixty-one broke their fast after abstaining since Wednesday. Five remained resistant over the wire screen separation from visitors. Authorities refused to remove the screen four days earlier after the protest began. Breakfast included bread mush eggs and milk.

Governor Allen notes one thousand men will enter the coal field Monday morning.
Rome dispatch reports Corriere D Italia denying a circulating claim that King Victor Emmanuel will abdicate. The paper says unrest rumors are a conspiracy to deter foreign capital and notes no abdication message exists in Rome. censorship prevented such messaging.
