Fire destroys Gallipolis Cotton Equipment Co

A Monday blaze at the Cotton Equipment Co two miles north of Gallipolis on Route 7 caused about 65000 in damage. Fire Chief James Northup said the two story concrete building housed an International Truck agency and farm equipment seller. Seventeen volunteers battled the fire with help from Point Pleasant units but water supply hindered efforts. The blaze began on the first floor parts department and gutted the structure, destroying a 1957 truck, tools, and thousands of parts. All household goods in the second floor apartment were lost.
