Ford Motor Company reopened its local assembly plant despite a strike by United Automobile Workers. Five hundred pickets from CIO unions stood outside while workers entered in cars at seven in the morning marking the plant's return after the holiday.

Miami dispatch reports rescue ships could not confirm the sinking of the British freighter Nollington Court and its crew of 17 after a Tuesday night hull damage. Nothing heard through the night from three search vessels off the northeast tip of Haiti. The steamer Chagres earlier took 18 seamen from the Nottingham Court after a hull breach.
Paris authorities disclosed that thousands of mobilization cards were distributed by the cagoulards, a rightist group alleged to plot overthrow of the government and restoration of the monarchy. The cards outline minute instructions for adherents when the revolution began.
