D A Canaday suspended mayor of Pomeroy reports encouragement after confidential talk with Cleveland Mayor Thomas A Burke. Gov Herbert suspended him for 30 days on misconduct charges with a Dec 4 hearing in Columbus. Canaday plans to return to Pomeroy and insists he remains mayor pending hearings.
Britain said it revised its Palestine proposals on Wednesday night to satisfy American objections. A spokesman noted acceptance of the U N S recommendation that Jews and Arabs settle boundary disputes themselves. The Bernadotte plan originally sought to cede the Negev to Arabs for Western Galilee, but the revised text appears to block arbitrary boundary changes during the current assembly session.
