Columbus Nov 24 Governor Donanes granted Thanksgiving clemency to F A Koppe former Logan mayor serving a penitentiary term for converting public funds to personal use. Two Men Rescued After 48 Hours in Abandoned Mine
Dewey Smith and John Walker wandered for over forty eight hours in the darkness of an abandoned mine in Charleston West Virginia. They entered Sunday to grab coal and were found more than a mile underground by rescue crews. With no food or water and their lamps out they huddled in the dark until found. Captain A J Anderson of the coast guard would not confirm orders.
