Meigs County garden clubs led Region 11 honors at the Ohio Association of Garden Clubs fall meeting in Nelsonville. Rutland Friendly Gardeners won first in state and region for their program book with 100 points and earned regional top for garden therapy work with special education students.

The Eastern High School football banquet highlighted by trophies for four seniors. Awards covered Class I and II divisions, mass arrangements, Jingle Bells wood and field materials, miniature Oh Little Town of Bethlehem, invitational We Three Kings, modern There s a Song in the Air, blooming house plants, and junior Oh Christmas Tree.
