Traveling Library Plan Urges Athens Teachers to Act

The state’s traveling libraries will reach every Athens county school. Teachers should appoint a local librarian to apply to State Librarian Galbreath in Columbus, receive a book list, and purchase only express charges. Schools keep 25 to 50 books for three months, chosen by local librarians to fit pupil ages. Probable Rail Change on Ohio Central Lines

Unofficial railway chatter in Athens points to a possible change in schedules on the Ohio Central Lines next month. If approved, No 2 would depart Athens at 6 am and No ig would arrive from Columbia, with a Pt Pleasant to Columbia round trip about 25 miles, no crew changes. The plan would shift Pt Pleasant departures to about 5 am and return around pm, delaying Athens departures but speeding arrivals. Officials say the move could cut costs but no final decision has been made.
