The grand jury completed a week long session, returning thirty eight indictments after examining 350 witnesses in seventy cases. Sixteen indictments target Athens county saloon keepers for illegal liquor selling. Also listed are indictments for burglary, assault and battery, murder in the second degree, grand larceny, criminal libel, carrying concealed weapons, and other offenses. He opened the first shaft in the Sunday Creek valley at No. 4 mine south of Jacksonville and promoted many mining ventures. Survived by a wife and several children. estate valued around 100000. Shinn of Amesville spoke on school language and an address on Jeffersonian versus Hamiltonian principles sparked debate. The affirmative won the audience vote with no formal judges, and the group plans to meet at Guysville on November 4.

Man Serious Injury At Hudson School Furniture Factory
C. G. Conant, at Hudson School Furniture, suffered a severe accident Monday at noon while operating a saw. His right arm was caught, lacerating above the wrist. The larger wrist bone was severed, the radial artery cut, and tendons damaged. Doctors believe preservation of the arm is possible and amputation may not be needed.
