Experiments by Doctor Ginsberg of the New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station show that mosquitoes in breeding places once inaccessible can be attacked from the air. A pilot flies low over swamps and spreads poison powder that destroys the new mosquito before it flies.

In Middlebourne West Virginia on November 18 Lacy Blankenslip aged 20 and Carl Wheeler aged 21 were burned to death after a car left a 60 foot embankment in heavy fog. William Swan aged 24 suffered severe burns to the body and legs. Wheeler was pinned under the car and cremated. Blankenship died en route to Sistersville Hospital.
Chicago brokers watch government efforts to stabilize wheat prices as the Grain Stabilization Corporation buys 1,000,000 bushels in the market, lifting holdings to about 72,000,000 and keeping prices above 73 cents. December wheat closes up, with March May and July futures also higher.
Coast Guards rescued 23 fishermen from the Petrel near Block Island and attempted to reach the Freighter Harry Bowen off Montauk Point as thick fog and heavy seas stranded 36 Bowen crew. Rescue boats reached Petrel. Bowen’s engine and boiler spaces flooded as crew clung to rigging.
The Ohio University sorority Sigma Sigma Sigma will adopt a family in need through the Athens County Red Cross and fund a year of essentials including food and children’s clothing. Members coordinating the effort include Caroline Hyde as chairman and Jeanette Baker, Geraldine Hope, Helen Nunemaker, Helen Rauch, Andrea Blackwood, Kathryn Beckler, Opal Cottiner, Jean Morton, Isabell Dyre, Marilyn Hill, Wilma Evans, Mary Pallay, Ethel Keep and Jessie May Halsted.
Athens County drivers can purchase 1931 automobile license plates from David Johnson state deputy registrar starting December 1. Plates may not be used until December 20, and those without new plates after December 31 face arrest. Plates arrive soon and match West Virginia’s gray and black design this year.
Francis co Martini, 48, a laborer, died in Columbus on Monday from injuries after a steam shovel boom crushed his chest and abdomen between the machine and a dirt pile.
David W. Hennessey 46 longtime head of Ohio Power Co Pomeroy and Middleport Street Car Co died suddenly at his Mulberry Avenue home at 3 am from heart attack and indigestion. He returned from Cincinnati where he testified in the Leo J. Byrne case. He leaves wife two adopted daughters his mother and siblings Tom Ella. No funeral plans announced.
Sunday Creek Mine No. 6 at Millfield, site of the November 6 explosion that killed 82, is expected to resume operations Thursday pending a Wednesday inspection by a deputy from the state mining department.
Film star Richard Dix narrowly escaped harm after leaping onto the bumper of an oncoming taxicab on Seventh Avenue. The cab driver was charged with reckless driving as Dix held on for about a block before the vehicle stopped at Thirty-Fourth Street.
Henry N. Oberlander of the Highway Hotel Buckeye City was freed on $1,000 bond after a secret indictment charging him with offering County Commissioner Horace J. Smith eighteen thousand seven hundred dollars to settle a forfeiture bond of twenty five thousand dollars Oberlander posted for Wilbur Hand of Toledo who is serving a prison term for robbery at the Commercial Savings Bank of Galion two years ago

Shelby Staley 25 of Pritchard W Va died at Cherrington Hospital after being crushed by a truck wheel in an Haydenville construction accident. Wayne Woolf a 16 year old North Georgetown student died when the car he rode in collided with an empty hay wagon. A board from the wagon struck Woolf in the head as the auto, blinded by approaching car lights, failed to see the wagon.
Gov. Myers Y. Cooper directed Ohio residents to observe November 27 as Thanksgiving Day in a suitable manner across the state. The proclamation calls for reflection gratitude and appropriate ceremonies.
