Chrysler Corp and the United Auto Workers Union reached a new contract for white collar workers Sunday night allowing production of 1959 model cars to resume. Despite only 8000 of 75000 UAW members striking, picket lines kept many plants idle with 61,000 workers idle and 32 plants closed entering the weekend. The agreement adds 2.53 dollars per week raises plus 3 percent of base pay, and introduces a severance plan and partial cost of living adjustments.
