Fire hazard delays Ohio pheasant rabbit hunting season

Ohio wildlife officials postponed the pheasant and rabbit season to at least November 23 due to field and forest fire risk. The postponement also covers raccoon grouse Hungarian partridge and other game while duck season remains unaffected. Parks and public lands were closed by the forestry chief.

Ex-Con Sought In Kidnapping of 13-Year-Old Girl

New York police searched for Anthony James Palazzola after a 26 year old ex convict abducted 13 year old Dorothea del Longo in a pre dawn robbery. The girl was held in a hotel room for several hours then released on a Queens street. She was later reported to have been assaulted and initially said not molested.

Aged Man Shot Dead at Mansfield Home

James Richardson, 74, an elderly pensioner, was found shot to death in his Mansfield residence on Friday. Police noted a hole the size of a silver dollar in the locked screen door, likely from a shotgun blast.

Radio Station Official Jailed For Unauthorized High School Broadcast

Ironton Ohio radio station president Marshall Rosene 47 of WNXT Portsmouth jailed after attempting to broadcast the Ironton Portsmouth high school football game from a truck outside the stadium without school approval. He posted 35 dollar bond and faces charges of driving a truck off a truck route and disobeying an officer. Two other stations had permission to broadcast the game. The school board had no record of WNXT applying for permission and cited a policy against broadcasts as financially unfavorable.

Patrol Investigators Arrest Gallia Resident

Gallipolis resident John Marks, 25, was arrested on Route 1 by state highway patrols and lodged in Gallia County jail for investigation. Sheriff Obenour turned him over to Marion County authorities at about 7 p.m. Saturday for further handling with two patrol plainclothesmen involved.
