Festival planned in Nelsonville for November 19

Central P T A meeting outlined a festival set for Friday November 19 for third and fourth graders. Activities include candy, a student performance titled America, with Margaret Johnson singing and piano accompaniment by Philip Welle. The next meeting on December 17 will feature the annual Christmas program.

Buchtel Club Plans Play for Army Fund Benefit

The Buchtel Club schedules a two performance play at the Tigh School auditorium in Buchtel Tuesday with matinee and evening shows starting at 1 30. The Jones Family will sponsor the production and Sanshnet Cope of Nelsonville will perform accordion numbers. Proceeds benefit the Army fund for local service men. Officers urge relatives with changing addresses to notify Mrs Cox or Mrs Graham or send proofs to the school for mail records.

York servicemen visit home during furloughs

Mrs and Mr Mopstetter in Nelsonville hosted a chicken dinner for Donald Hoster on furlough from the Fifth Army unit in Italy. Robert Matheny, recently informed by his mother, is with the Fifth Army in Italy. Matheny and his wife and son spent furlough at H. T. Matheny's home after Pfc Matheny graduated from the Army Air Force Radio School in Sioux Falls. He will report to Baer Field Fort Wayne Indiana with the Air Transport Command.

Colored Women's GOP Club Organized in Athens County

The Colored Women’s GOP Club organized on Friday November 12 at First Baptist Church with Mrs Charles Evans as president and officers including Raymond Branston treasurer Delbert Thompson vice president Laura Norman secretary and others. Committees were named for program and other roles. The club, with ST members, will meet monthly at the church and the next session is December 2. Non members may affiliate by contacting officers. the public is invited.

Bateman Woman Suffers Hip Injury in Nelsonville

Jane Bateman sustained a broken hip at the home of her husband and daughters in law in Nelsonville on Monday. A photo record from Wednesday shows the fracture. Bateman, who turns two on December 2, previously broke her left hip twelve years ago. Her condition Saturday morning was reported as satisfactory.

Methodist Church Services Announced
