Holland New Dikes and Zuyder Zee Project Details
A 1875 Washington Department of Agriculture sketch describes reclaiming large tracts from the sea in Holland. It outlines a 25 mile dike from Kampen to Enkhuizel, costs over 10.5 million dollars, total project around 6.1 million, and potential land worth 1,050 dollars per acre with huge profits. The new province would be seven hundred and fifty three square miles, about 1 eighteenth of Holland, adding wealth. It also notes a separate public debt analysis and various political notices.
