Athens County delivered sweeping Republican wins while Democrat Ruth Burdette narrowly defeated Ena Nelson for clerk of courts. Hoover led Roosevelt in Athens City but Ed Ingalls trailed White. Amendment defeat seen with 7,192 against and 5,603 for.
Unofficial Meigs County returns from 42 precincts show strong Republican leads in many contests. Key figures include Hoover 5 917 and Bricker 6 053 for U S Senator, Jenkins 6 545 and Young 8 178 for congress, and Beegie 6 881 versus Beefe? 3 375 for state offices. Constitutional convention favors No with 4 368 to Yes 2 381. County totals reflect broad party preference across executive, legislative, and judicial races.
Daytons election results show the defeat of a special school levy yesterday, leading to a shorter school year by one month next term. A separate levy for poor relief also failed.

New York reports Democrats clinched control of the Senate in the Seventy-Third Congress as their newly elected members plus 18 holdovers give 50 seats, a two vote majority. The result follows the November elections and ensures a Democratic majority in the upper chamber.

Uvalde Texas election results show John Nance Garner winning the vice presidency and a seat in Texas Fifteenth District. He will serve as Speaker of the House during the short session starting December and preside over the Senate after his March 4 inauguration.
Chauncey Dover schools will close Friday Armistice Day, announced by Superintendent Wesley Walburn. The notice states the district will recess for the holiday and resume classes the following day.

Water from the worst cloudburst in the Lake Okeechobee region covered miles of the east shore farming area. Many residents abandoned flooded homes while boats ferried people and animals. Fr. W. Gray, meteorology service, announced 21 inches of rain fell in 12 hours.
In Michigan the repeal proposal carried by about two to one, with final returns from 3,417 precincts showing 154 against and 194,374 for repeal, indicating wide support for repealing the prohibition amendment.

In Tuesday morning elections Hoover edged Roosevelt by four votes at Central School. Young voters favored Ingalls for governor with White 21 to 44 Republican. County offices mostly Republican, Wingett over Stratton by three. Judicial ballot saw Marshall 38 Weygandt 35 for chief justice. Stephenson and Jones led in their seats. Zimm er man second. Dresd over Johnson by seven for probate judge.
A gas explosion in a Dayton home injures husband Stanley Woodyard 26 his wife Mia Thelma 2 Stanley Jr 3 and Doreoay 4. The four are severely burned and rushed to a hospital.
