War sa w reports Cracow fell under striker control after a Tuesday clash with police. Thirty killed and 260 wounded as rifles, machine guns, and an armored car changed hands. Negotiations with municipal officials were under way as troops were withdrawn.
In Steubenville Ohio on November 7 supporters of Mayor elect Frank A. Hawkins Republican celebrated with a bonfire in the city core. The blaze extended above rooftops before the fire department quenched it. Hawkins led James R. Keane Democrat and Herman B. Passavant independent by 644 votes, making the Ku Klux Klan candidate the loser by a clear margin.
Clyde Pierce, Republican, won Hamden mayoral race by 55 votes over Democrat George Carmick. Abe Young, Republican, defeated Democrat John Trainor for marshal by 10 votes.
Baltimore Democrat Albert C. Ritchie, a noted foe of prohibition, wins re-election with an estimated 30 000 to 40 000 vote lead. The full Democratic slate also wins, giving Democrats control of the next assembly. Ritchie is Maryland’s first governor re-elected since the state adopted popular vote for governors.
Sydney reports that the British steamship Koranna, about two hours from Sydney, wired that a fire had broken out in her coal bunkers and her position was perilous.
In Ironton Ohio on November 7 Harry Jones the Republican anti Klan candidate won by about 500 votes over Colonel T H B Jones the Democrat backed by the Klan in the largest poll ever cast in Ironton.
Charles Moore held a small lead for Athens township trustee with Add Hooper in second and John Gillette third after 23 precincts reported early results. The tally showed Moore 1268, Hooper 1224, Gillette 699, Harvey Rye 479, Finney 479 and Hardy 479.
Oklahoma City reports the federal court at Lawton eyed an injunction to restrain the house of representatives the Ku Klux Klan and others from prosecuting the impeachment case against Governor J C Walton. After late night conferences an executive reply was planned for the court in response to the governor s move.
Washington reports mixed satisfaction as Republicans win Vermont senate seat with Porter Dale defeating Park Pollard, gain one house seat in New York's 24th district, while Democrats praise three gubernatorial wins in Kentucky Maryland and Mississippi and seven of ten house seats held.

In Columbus Ohio the Piedmont Mt Airy Co of Baltimore Maryland pleaded guilty to selling four brands of unlicensed fertilizer marking the first prosecution and conviction of a fertilizer manufacturer in many years.
In Marion Ohio on November 7 Rev M L Buckley a Republican won the mayors race by about 1400 votes over Democrat George W Neely. The Ku Klux Klan backed Buckley and the entire Republican slate was elected.
FM Columbus Ohio reports Judge Florence E Allen praising the election of Miss Mary Bartolme as finois circuit court justice. She says the result should lead to more qualified women serving as prosecutors, lawyers, jurists, and judges in Ohio courts.
Two military prisoners James Coleman 24 Syracuse N Y and McKinley Elliott 22 Ashland Ky escaped from a military prison last night by tossing a bench into the bay and jumping in. Cramped and rescued after two hours a ferryboat helped recover them. They are begge desertion terms and were returned to Alcatraz Island.
Medina Ohio Craig Kennedy changed his plea from not guilty to guilty on attempted burglary and received a 15 year prison sentence.
Hungry mobs rioted in Berlin with looting and one death in bread protests at Pirma in the Saxon coal region. Police appeal failed to stop the unrest as authorities faced the crowd and several were wounded. The Dresden government sent the dispute to the Reichsgericht in Leipzig.
In Middletown Colorado on November 7 the Ku Klux Klan won all seats on the city commission and school boards as voters cast up to 5100 ballots. City commissioners Charles J. Brooks Charlie W. Greer and George Class were elected on the Klan ticket along with a full township slate.
Mrs. Emma Huns berger of Medina who died recently left an estate of about $200000. About half of this was stock in the Ohio Match Company founded by Wadaworth.
