Vatican Says Jackie Not Excommunicated
Vatican publication states Jacqueline Kennedy’s marriage to Aristotle Onassis did not excommunicate her but is effectively a renunciation of her faith. L'Osservatore della Domenica notes excommunication not a penalty since 1966 and calls her a public sinner denied some rites, while Mass attendance remains allowed. The piece hints possible future change if she repents.
