Vote 19 Backers Plan To Try Again Next May
Backers of the Vote 19 proposal to lower the voting age to 19 said they would start a new drive after defeat in Tuesday's general election. Clark Wideman of Ohio Volunteers for Vote 19 said they will seek 485 000 signatures to place the issue on the ballot next May or November. The other statewide proposal to shorten terms for some state officers passed easily, drawing little public notice. Balloting from 11 523 of 13 223 precincts showed the vote on the 19 proposal.
