In Madera California Howard Dearmoun a Roosevelt supporter was killed while two hunting companions Louis Strass and Dan Malseed both Landon advocates were jailed on murder charges. Malseed said Strass and Dearmoun argued for weeks about the campaign and he heard a shot on Monday. He found Strass bending over the body and Sheriff Justice found the gun in Dearmouns hand without shells.
Frank Knox Republican Vice Presidential nominee voted in his home precinct and then awaited election returns at the Chicago Daily News. He delivered the last of 250 campaign addresses on three radio networks and predicted a Republican victory based on talks during a 37 state coast-to-coast tour.
Ohio parole board releases 28 inmates from the London Prison Farm including Hocking-Jefferson Ward who faced a shooting to wound charge. Thirty four cases were continued with parole set for April 10, 1937 for Ward.
A reception will be held at the First Methodist Church in honor of Dr. and Mrs. William E. Seaman and Rev. and Mrs. Russell Bayliff. The event runs Thursday evening from 8 to 10 o'clock.

In Senath Missouri two of a set of quadruplets born Monday night in a back country cabin to Mrs James Bridges died. Attending physician Dr P F W Speidel reported the two surviving girls weigh about two pounds each while the remaining baby boy and girl had died earlier. The mother and three remaining children were said to be fine with the father James Bridges 44 collapsing upon hearing the news. Flooding from the St Francis and Black Rivers delayed medical aid reaching the mother.
The Rev. Gerald L. K. Smith, Louisiana evangelist and leader of Share-the-Wealth, was paroled today under Huey Long era law. Smith and three associates, plus his secretary Preston Delcazal, were arrested after delivering a pre election blast. Charges included disturbing the peace obscenity and reviling police. The parole law automates release for city statute violations if not arraigned within two hours. Smith had planned to remain jailed until the recorder's court session set for Wednesday midnight.
Early returns from 14 precincts in 10 counties show Franklin D. Roosevelt leading with 514 votes to Alf Landon's 358. In Osawatomie a 4 to 1 Roosevelt edge appeared, while Topeka and Kansas City reports also favored the President on the first counts amid a strong early labor vote.
James W. Gerard former ambassador to Germany paid 3400 to vote today after a 20000 bet on Roosevelt’s re election. He found voting by a bet under law forbids a bettor and paid 1700 to each of two wagers for a release.

New York and Philadelphia report violence and widespread ship lockouts affecting 3,000 seamen in the port.
Ohio State University announced the formation of a research foundation after incorporation papers were filed. President George Rightmire said the objective is to create an instrument for closer university industry cooperation in solving Ohio firms’ research problems.
Ernest Hawkins pleads innocent and is held to Common Pleas Court on a $300 bond by Mayor Len B. Sickles, 23, of 2038 W Union Ave, was hospitalized at Sheltering Arms Hospital, then released.

In Columbus, Menlo Kitzmiller, 27, a paroled inmate, shot and killed his father Trace A. Kitzmiller, 58, interior decorator, in the kitchen of their home. Neighbors said the license revocation visit occurred after the youth allegedly received a drivers license at Reynoldsburg last week. The attack followed an incident with a brother who reportedly tried to stab him.
Herbert A. Grove of Bucyrus plans to file a claim against the City of Columbus for injuries from a wild African hog at the Municipal Zoo on October 4. Grove says the hog severed an artery when it bit him while he stood beside the pen.

New York dispatch notes the fight for control of the House dominates today’s balloting. Republicans must gain 115 seats to wrest control from Democrats, with leaders optimistic though Democrats expect to defend current strength and possibly add a few seats.
Martial law went into effect in San Miguel County as a precaution against election day violence. Governor Clyde Tingley ordered the measure amid bitter campaigning and long-standing fears of trouble in the county.
