The Athens Community Chest Drive opens Thursday November 4 with a plan to raise thirteen thousand eight hundred dollars. The main drive runs November 8 through November 13 led by Carl H Beasley and P F Good. Capt Horace Palmer reorganized solicitation areas and plans to recruit about fifty volunteers. Agencies include the Salvation Army Red Cross Boy Scouts Girl Scouts Hospital University YWCA and Childs Health and Protective Association. A luncheon for solicitors is set for Monday at the Hotel Berry to discuss plans.

Washington officials said a government loan of 50 cents per bushel on corn will be announced soon.
