Great bankruptcy sale begins Saturday morning November 4 by The Athens Store Company Athens Ohio of the late Palmer & McGrath Perkins Block. Stock includes dress goods dry goods gloves notions ladies and gentlemen furnishings in an elegant variety.
A local Athens County store announces new stock of dress goods gloves and hosiery with prices marked 10 to 25 percent below actual cost. The advertisement promotes a grand opportunity for buyers to secure real bargains across a wide selection.
Ex Governor Foraker defends Republican cause in a letter to the Ohio Sun. He blames Democratic policies for finance and labor woes, urges electing McKinley to settle silver and free trade, and views a Republican victory as reviving prosperity. Includes notes on pension injustices and railroad consolidation.
Athens Republicans will dispatch a large delegation to the Nelsonville gathering on Saturday afternoon. The C H V T offers half fare for roundtrip travel. Speakers include Sherman Morrison of New Mexico and Ex Governor Chase of Indiana, all nationally known orators. They deserve a hearty reception.

They press unity across school districts and plead active support for William McKinley, champion of protection, good wages and honest money, calling on soldiers and citizens to vote the full ticket and ensure a large Republican majority.
Athens county veterans have so far escaped harsh cuts to their pensions with only seventeen pensioners stricken from the rolls. The piece notes relief compared with widespread losses under Hoke Smith and warns after the election more veterans may feel the axe’s edge.
Governor McKinley issued a circular to state and court officers and the public about the Ohio Hospital for Epileptics at Gallipolis. The facility will admit 250 male patients, with initial capacity for 6 and plans to take 200 more next spring or summer. Athens County infirmary patients should receive admission priority, and a water system may delay opening until state funds cover needed construction.
