Jury Frees Drydock Man After Trial
A jury in Athens county justice court found Daniel Nogrady Sr. not guilty of assault and battery on Constable H. A. Seibert near Drydock after about 15 minutes of deliberation. The elder Nogrady and his son were accused of beating Seibert during an attempted arrest, with testimony noting a medicine bottle carried by the younger Nogrady and arguments that the men were sober at the time. Witnesses supported the sobriety claim as the case focused on provocation and whether force was warranted.
