Starr Washington seniors to receive degrees Tuesday
The Starr Washington High School graduating class will hold baccalaureate services Sunday at 8 p m with Rev Willard Dutcher officiating and the class sermon by the Rev Larry Taylor The commencement begins Tuesday at 8 p m in the high school auditorium with participation from the school band and choir Principal Arch Taylor will award diplomas Superintendent Frederick Good will present the class to county Supt James Frey Dr Gilbert A Stephenson Ohio University education professor will be the speaker He has held multiple roles including Vietnam Project chief of party and Vietnam Education Institute coordinator at Ohio University.

Miss Allyn Christine Smith, a 1969 Logan High School graduate, won a Wallace-Murray Education Fund scholarship for first year college study. Daughter of a William Wallace Division shipping clerk, she was chosen for scholastic merit and leadership with Logan High School backing. She will attend Ohio University in September.

Unemployments Down as Claims Decline in Logan and Athens

County Court Hears Guilty Pleas and Fines
Logan Hocking County Judge James Stilwell found Norman Walker 34 guilty of driving while intoxicated on May 28 at 2 45 am. He was fined 150 dollars plus 8 50 dollars in court costs, three days in jail and 30 days license suspension. Laura Poling pleaded not guilty on two charges of Sunday liquor sales at Logan Carryout, posted bonds, then pleaded guilty and paid 90 dollar fine plus costs. She also pled guilty to obstructing an employee of the Department of Liquor Control. fine 100 dollars plus costs. Bond forfeiture 20 dollars for Eileen Majorie Saunders of Sidney for speeding on May 3. Youths Livestock Judging Contest Planned
Logan announces the first area wide livestock judging contest set for Saturday at the Max Jolly farm two miles west of Hamden. Nine Southeastern Ohio counties will compete for trophies rosettes and awards with registration at 9 am and judging at 9:30. The program aims to develop youth judging skills in beef sheep and swine classes. Austin McLeod Hope reunion to be held Memorial Day at the Austin Farm on Remond Ridge with a 10 am meeting and noon picnic.
