Regional track and field competition began Wednesday as athletes chase state meet spots. Nelsonville York's Noah Andrews placed sixth in boys discus with a 141 ft 7 in mark, four feet better than districts, missing a top-four by seven inches. Andrews will compete in shot put Friday as Adena's Ethan Hurtt won with 152 ft. The event also saw Nelsonville York's Hunter Edwards tie for eighth in pole vault at 10 ft 6 in. Dawson-Bryant's Eli Willis won with 12 ft 6 in, and Kenton's Tim Maynard earned the final qualifying spot at 11 ft 6 in. Eastern girls advanced to state in the 4x800 with Asia Michael, Laura Pullins, Taylor Parker, and Jessica Cook finishing third in SEE TRACK.
