Athens eyes land swap to expand space for waste disposal
Athens plans to swap 80 acres used for sludge spreading in Canaanville for a nearby 140-acre tract offered by JBH Investments. The exchange would move 24 acres of developable land from the city parcel while the JBH parcel sits in a floodway and is not developable. Officials say the move complies with EPA guidelines and reduces landfill haul costs.
