Ohio Senate votes to lower age of maturity to eighteen
The Ohio Senate plans a Tuesday floor vote on a bill reducing legal maturity from 21 to 18, with the House to reconvene after Memorial Day. Main sponsor Sen. Stanley Aronoff notes 18 to 21 year olds would gain all rights except drinking alcohol. The measure follows Ohio’s prior ratification of the national 18 year voting age. The same session’s actions include funding for transit rebates and a medical dispensary, plus measures on judges’ pay and state building projects.
