Woods captured in Meigs county for robbery and attempted murder
Meigs county officers arrest Al Woods three miles north of Nelsonville after intelligence linked him to a Wednesday night robbery at King Rice’s isolated Leading Creek home. Rice, 73, and his sister were bound and robbed of twenty dollars. Woods, a long-time fugitive, was brought to Athens jail after being found hiding near Nelsonville.

The District No 19 school house, four miles from here, burned down last night. The blaze origin is uncertain though believed caused by tramps setting it. The structure had stood for several years and was in good condition.

Professor W E Henderson of Ohio University chemistry tendered resignations to trustees to accept a post at Ohio State University in Columbus. A popular figure, his departure would be a loss. he is a Delaware College and Johns Hopkins alum, with scholastic honors and leadership roles. Rice Bennett died Saturday morning after a long stomach illness at his home near Pleasanton. He was forty five, leaving a wife and four children named Sidney Barney Plessie and Clinton. Funeral services were held Monday at Sugar Creek at 10 o clock with interment in the nearby cemetery.
