Athens City Schools Chief Ends Tenure After Inquiry
The Athens City Schools board ends Supt. Carl Martin’s tenure effective Aug 1 2015 after a probe into whether district officials knew of a sexual relationship involving former teacher Isaac Thomas. Martin had served since 1995 and has been on paid administrative leave since Feb 12. Acting superintendent Tom Gibbs will assume duties until Aug 1 when a swap with Gibbs was planned, with policy updates and budget notes discussed at the board meeting.
