Warns of Feed Costs and Pasture Advice
Drastic increases in animal feed costs may push producers to reduce cattle herds and chicken flocks or go out of business, says Ross Wright county agricultural agent. Good pastures cut costs. sudan grass seeded May 20 to June 15 yields pasture in six weeks with 200 to 300 pounds per acre fertilizer, and should not be grazed until 12 to 15 inches high. Sudan grass tolerates dry weather and second cutting hay provides August September pasture. Dinner postponement: Altar and Rosary Society St Pauls Church May 23 indefinitely postponed.
