Washington letter voices anger at congress in 1879

The Washington letter condemns the 1st session of the 46th Congress as needlessly partisan and hypocritical, arguing Democratic caucus control harmed national prosperity and citing vetoes, criticising Bayard and others, and predicting adjournment and voter action against usurpation.
