Hospital Disaster Plan Partially In Place
Shelter Arms Hospital has activated its disaster plan for the first time under Administrator Carl Thielmann. He says the plan is about half in effect until the National Guard leaves Athens, allowing 30 to 50 emergency cases to be managed at once. The plan, revised in January, reflects limits by the hospital’s size and notes no prior activation. The community has not yet established a regional transport and emergency system, though a new 200-bed emergency hospital is planned nearby.
