William C. Fischer of Zaleski died in a Cincinnati hospital Thursday night. A life-long Vinton County resident, he was active in district interests. He leaves daughter Margaret Jane Fischer two brothers F. E. Fischer and J. P. Fischer and sister Nelle L. Fischer all of Zaleski. Funeral services set for Saturday at two in the afternoon from his residence.
Robert O. Laws of Hyde Park was held for questioning after his brother in law Courtland Burton 38 of Oakley was shot to death at the Laws home today in Cincinnati.
Deputies served indictments on five Lawrence County officials and a lumber dealer tied to election frauds last November by a special grand jury. The group includes Pearl Pratt, Dan Rapp, Elizabeth Griffith, Wade Webb, and John Zeek, with William Dickens named as the Republican county commissioner candidate involved. The case centers on tampered ballots aimed at Dickens, who pursued office alongside late County Commissioner Harry H. Banton.
Cincinnati officials announced the 12 foot python Rance has laid 25 cream colored eggs about the size of duck eggs. Keepers expect hatching in the new temperature controlled reptile house. Dr Sol Stephan the zoo veterinarian said the hatchlings should measure about two feet long and as thick as a man's thumb.
An attractive blonde girl found in a Back Bay hotel admitted she had used several names including Ruth Baumgardner and Mary V Davenport She claimed to be Mary Davenport of West Troy New York and said she had been confined in a New York state hospital until last March
Charles A Lindbergh marked his 10th anniversary of crossing the Atlantic in seclusion at his Kent country home near Sevenoaks. The reclusive flyer avoided attention while a police guard and a German police dog kept watch. Lindbergh and family live quietly at Weald and travel by small car, with Jon seen only briefly on the lawn.
Ohio University held its Senior Day in Memorial Auditorium led by Dr. H G James greeting the Class of 1937. A piano solo preceded Winifred Dinsmoor dedicating the Bryan Memorial Fund for Memorial Auditorium organ purchase. The United States State Department received German representations over Cardinal Mundelein of Chicago criticizing Hitler's church policies. Mundelein described Hitler as an Austrian paper hanger and German anger surfaced in Der Angriff denouncing him as insulting the German nation and Catholics.
Uniontown District Attorney James A. Reilly faces trial in Pittsburgh over the third degree murder of Frank C. Monaghan. Five physicians testified the 64 year old died from external violence, while defense argues Monaghan died of a heart ailment during police questioning.
The southeast portion of Grand Lake was dragged today for the body of Norman Parker 19 Norwood who drowned Wednesday while fishing with friends.
Governor Davey signed a bill mandating automobile dealers and salesmen be licensed in Ohio. It creates a three member licensing board to enforce the provisions.

The Boyd Bill creating a 48 hour week and eight hour day for women workers was signed by Governor Davey. Manufacturing establishments are exempt from the 48 hour limit, restricting factory hours to 45 per week. The law excludes domestic workers, bona fide executives, medical teaching law and social work professionals, and hospital professionals. Exemptions cover women over 21 in mercantile businesses and small city telephone firms in towns under 5 000 inhabitants.
Mrs. Elizabeth Giffen age 82 a United Presbyterian missionary in Cairo Egypt for 42 years died of a heart attack in Cincinnati She was born in Athens and was the widow of Rev John Giffen a former Cairo missionary and once U S consul in Egypt
George Hughes son of Mr and Mrs Edward Hughes of Niles died after an automobile collision near Warren on Wednesday. Four others were injured in the crash.
Plans for an Athens Credit Bureau to gather and share credit information among businesses and professionals were announced by John W. Bolin and Oscar Fulton. The office will open by June 1 on E Washington Street across from City Hall, with confidential data available only to member inquiries.

Benner of Wilmington Del an insurance company executive warned at the Ohio Bankers Association convention that inflation will continue unless the Federal Government balances its budget He said government borrowing mirrors postwar Germany and risks eroding the value of money tied to Federal credit.
An autopsy showed two month old Dolores Galvin died of natural causes, not murder by 3-year-old Noel. Dr. Ruger cited facial scratches possibly from the infant or from Noel, the only other person home with her. The Galvins had maintained Noel was fond of his sister.
King George VI reviewed the world’s mightiest fleet at Spithead in a coronation review. Vessels from 17 nations joined the King’s fleet in a grand procession and salute demonstrating sea power and unity.
Pierre S. DuPont testified on how stock transactions with John J. Raskob in 1929 balanced within 46 dollars of 30 million. The government alleges they engineered trades to create nearly 7 million in tax losses and face 1.8 million in additional taxes for that year. It also notes Raskob paid no income tax in 1931 with net income 787,851, offset by deductible capital losses.
Harry Brunker a veteran train dispatcher for the New York Central and longtime Middleport resident died in a Charleston hospital after a surgical operation. The Brunker family moved to Belpre, then to Charleston in 1924 when Brunker was transferred. Niece Mrs. Milton Hamilton and relatives Mrs. Virgil Campbell, Mrs. Minnie Davis and Miss Sadie Phillips traveled from Middleport and Belpre.
Miss Treva Shaw of Nelsonville was jolted from a car on West Union Street near the fairgrounds when a wind slammed the door. She suffered bruises and was taken to Sheltering Arms Hospital where her condition was described as not serious. Her coat was caught in the door as she freed it.

Mrs. Mattie Mullins gave birth to four babies in a dilapidated Porter farm home. Three survived, two boys and a girl, weighing from 1 1/2 to 3 pounds. The fourth child died minutes after birth. Father William Mullins and 14 year old son Willie aided, with Dr. Joblin taking the living infants to Muskogee hospital.
A sit down strike at the Plymouth motor plant in Detroit idled between three and four thousand workers. Senator George L Berry sought Roosevelt backing for impartial arbitration to end the dispute as White House aides urged hands off. Chrysler officials offered no cause for the disturbance.
Hartford reports the 67 year old utilities magnate and longtime Connecticut GOP leader J Henry Roraback died by suicide ending a 25 year party domination. His support helped Alfred M Landon secure the 1936 Republican nomination.
