A fourth suspect in the $14,000 Eden New York bank robbery on May 7 was being returned to Buffalo after his capture in Cleveland. Detective Ralph Spalding said Arden Donovan, 22, admitted participating and waived extradition. A hotel tip led to arrests. another suspect was caught in Brooklyn.
Patrolman Robert Hartley clashed with Harry Wisnewski 21 after attempting to arrest him for rolling dice on a Philadelphia sidewalk. The chase moved to the Wisnewski home where five family members joined the fray, hurling kitchen utensils at Hartley. Reinforcements arrived and the family was taken into custody. Hartley was hospitalized.
A five foot spring near Rodney in Gallia County claimed five year old Alvan Lewellen who died after his parents, who are Welsh descended, suffered a heart attack. A sister found him after no supper call. Coroner W. Lewis Brown ruled drowning. Funeral set for 2 p.m. Tuesday with Rev. Fred Rice officiating. burial at Bulaville. The Lewellens and several siblings survive.
Seven people died in Ohio auto crashes on Sunday with multiple additional injuries. A Hamilton resident perished after his car ignited in a collision. Accidents occurred in Vermilion Dayton Cleveland Akron Lima St Marys and Tiffin, with numerous fatalities and injuries including teenagers and several in the Lawrence L J Griggs family.
Twenty members of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity at 32 President Street were quarantined for one week after Lloyd Black of Lancaster was diagnosed with scarlet fever. Black, a sophomore, fell ill Saturday and was treated at Shelter ing Arms Hospital before being sent home Sunday. The quarantined students planned study ahead of final examinations starting this weekend.
Cincinnati plants of the Chevrolet Motor Company and the Fisher Body Company resumed operations Monday after more than two weeks of shutdown. About fifty workers reported to unload supplies as full personnel of 2,200 are expected to return before week’s end, following a Friday vote in which strikers unanimously chose to go back to work while awaiting final settlement.
In Columbus, Mrs Ida Van Gundy, 52, was killed with a hatchet as she prepared Sunday dinner for her husband, John Van Gundy, 58. He confessed to the slaying, promising to plead not guilty by reason of a first degree murder charge. her stepson William Keplar, 32, survived after being wounded in the attack. The suspect’s signed confession details a motive tied to quarrels and alleged neglect.
Babson poll released in Wellesley Mass forecasts President Roosevelt re election in 1936. The survey notes strong personal popularity for Roosevelt but a drop in confidence in the New Deal. It shows 52.2 percent say recovery is because of the President and 47.5 percent say in spite of him. Electoral forecast: at least 363 of 531 votes.

Eight year old Shirley Evans, missing from her Jackson Heights home since Friday, was found dead Monday two yards from her home. Police and neighbors uncovered her body after a cave dug by children collapsed burying her under earth. Autopsy found no signs of violence. The district attorney noted the possibility of a kidnapping or assault but continued the search.
Washington—Administer Richberg told the House Ways and Means Committee that 2,000,000 wage earners would seek relief if the NRA expired and warned of grave industrial trouble. The Athens County Unemployed League committee led by Russell Michael The Plains asked the Athens County Commissioners for a written prevailing wage estimate. Commissioners said with no county road funds and no road work, they cannot establish a wage figure and that relief administration is entirely controlled by the federal agency.
Heat from a house fire caused a gasoline tank explosion Sunday evening at the Mia Nethie Davis home in Gallipolis Rural Route 1. Her 11 year old son Millard Davis suffered severe burns to his face and arms and was taken to Holzer Hospital. The fire destroyed the Davis residence and belongings. Millard is the grandson of Lew Davis of Gallipolis.
W Lawson Little Jr of San Francisco overcame T H Parker of Britain one up in the first round of the British Amateur Championship at St Annes on the Sea England. He faced a stern test as he pursued the title.
In Cincinnati two police officers were shot and killed on Monday. Coroner Frank M. Coppock reported Patrolman Romanus Stull aged 39 killed himself with his service pistol while Deputy Sheriff Walter Francis aged 48 was killed by an accidental shotgun discharge at a police case location.
