County To Aid In Road Repairs In Vinton County
Vinton County commissioners adopted a policy to aid townships and municipalities in road repairs and sealing. They authorized the county engineer to perform work within the year if funds are available. A Beech Grove road transfer request was discussed. no action. Austin Powder Co. donated and cut the pipe. sign standards are set in concrete. A street patching program will begin this week as blacktop streets, aided by a sealing program last fall, are in better condition than many Southeastern Ohio communities.

Alligators Placed in McArthur Mayor's Backyard
Two live alligators inhabit a backyard pool at Mayor Jerry Martin and wife’s home in McArthur. The animals, about two feet long, were imported from Florida as pets. the mayor remodeled and sank a bathtub for their habitat and hopes to tame them. They reportedly eat raw hamburger weekly and enjoy back scratches.
