Tax dispute halts highway 159 assessment talks at Pomeroy
Land owners and others pressed for reduced assessments on the Pomeroy Athens state highway 159 as the county board of commissioners met. Attorneys urged reductions while some speakers warned of a $60,000 concrete road cost. A mandamus suit was served to place the agent on the tax rolls or explain why not. The session suggested court action may follow. Nearby social notes list residents visiting or returning home after weekends and travels in the region.
