Doctors Encouraged About Wallace's Condition After Shooting
Maryland and Michigan voters gave George Wallace a political boost as doctors reported improvements after a Laurel rally shooting. Wallace, paralyzed since Monday, showed slight leg sensation while still heavily sedated after five hours of surgery. Campaign manager Charles Snider said X rays indicated the bullet’s force spent before reaching the spine and that doctors remained cautiously optimistic. Bremer, a 21 year old Milwaukee man, stayed jailed in Baltimore County on federal bail as the investigation continued.
