Liza Grey Chaplin Aguirre told a judge from the witness stand that she was called the meanest woman in the world as the divorce suit was argued in Los Angeles. The former wife of Charlie Chaplin said the marriage had not had a fair trial and noted she wed Aguirre on February 10, 1937.
Three youths spectators were killed and four others injured in a racing car accident at Langhorne Speedway on Sunday. Police and emergency responders rushed to the scene and investigators began rounds of interviews to determine the cause.
A car test on the highway into Pt. Pleasant West Virginia killed driver Walter Hill 40 Nitro and injured his wife 35 and her brother Ottie Rhodes 30. Mrs Hill amputated leg and Rhodes back broken in the Holzer Hospital.

Emanuel Anderson, 35, confessed to killing three women in Memphis Tennessee, signing a waiver of extradition after being arrested in Chicago. Police said one victim was white and the murders occurred over a year ago as officers questioned him through the night.

Senator Copeland urged a congressional moratorium on foreclosures by the Home Owners Loan Corporation to prevent a flood of government owned homes. HOLC's December 31 1936 records show loans of 3.991 billion on 1 021 000 homes and 21 201 foreclosed properties valued at 75 million.
Washington reports a ten year high in individual income tax returns filed in 1936 for 1935 income. Ohio led with a gain of over 36 000 returns from the prior year and 250 540 filers, up from 214 493.

Jersey City report on the upcoming trial of Gladys MacKnight and Donald Wightman for the August hatchet murder of Gladys mother in Bayonne. Prosecutor O Regan will argue Gladys used the weapon while Wightman held her arms and urged her on. Witnesses describe a beer fueled afternoon and conflicting police versions.

About 100 miles of pipeline are being laid to an old Ohio Well in South Bloomingville as Ohio Fuel Gas Co stores gas from Texas and West Virginia fields. Over 150 workers enlarge a pumping station and trench four feet underground. The method uses dormant wells to hold supply for Southern Ohio needs.
