One hundred sixty graduates, the largest in school history, received diplomas at the 61st commencement. Valedictorian Harry Rhodes and salutatorian Linda Hatch led the speakers, with multiple students earning state and national honors, scholarships, and numerous awards announced by Supt. C. H. Withers.

Blanche Mitchell Bartlett 72 of 700 Main Street Point Pleasant died 12 15 p m Wednesday at Quantico Naval Base Hospital after a patient stay since April 20 She was survived by a son Commander James V Bartlett of Quantico two granddaughters two sisters Mrs Verna Simmons of Point Pleasant and Mrs Wilda Justice of Jacksonville Fla and a brother Also surviving is sister in law Mrs Denise Mitchell of Gallipolis She was a former assistant cashier at Spencer Bank a 27 year note teller for Kanawha Valley Bank in Charleston and a member of the First Church of Christ Scientist in Boston and Charleston Waived services include a graveside reading by Mrs Earl Arnett in Spencer W Va and burial in Spencer Cemetery. Born Feb 15 1885 at Walton W Va to Charles Thomas and Sophia Butcher Mitchell.

OU Official Speaks At Senior Banquet
GLOUSTER B. T. Grover assistant to the president of Ohio University spoke at the Jacksonville Trimble and Glouster seniors banquet hosted by the Kiwanis Club Tuesday evening. He urged education as the American birthright and the key to democracy. The event honored 33 Jacksonville Trimble seniors and 22 from Glouster with remarks from JT’s T. C. Porter and Mrs. Betty Rose.

Probation Suspended In Forgery Case At Point Pleasant
Judge Oliver Kessel suspended the probation of Chris Mathews and sentenced him to two to ten years in the state penitentiary for forgery. He failed to appear twice before the judge and had been given a suspended sentence on the prosecutor’s recommendation. Two Circuit Court cases were continued to the next term: Theodore Stevens vs Rolfe Lee and Paul McKinney. Donald and Suella Wood vs Conenen R. Broker Imperial Electric Co.
