Harold Rosen twenty one of Cleveland was killed and Thelma Knight nineteen of Akron seriously injured when a motorcycle hit a barricade on Massillon road. Workmen had placed six red lanterns on the wooden structure during repairs Thursday night.
Eight members of Ohio University School of Music junior class will perform vocal and instrumental works at 8 o clock Monday night in Music Hall Auditorium. Director Prof. C. A. E. Johnson of Dayton Ohio pilots a glider with a 34 hp motor aiming a transcontinental flight to set an economy fuel consumption record. He will climb, shut off the motor to glide as far as possible, then repeat the process.
Federal agents closed a private barroom set up in the Hotel Hollenden for convention delegates and arrested operator Abe Weinberg of Chicago. The two room suite had been established in 1932. In the raid agents found 132 bottles of beer six quarts of gin and 24 bottles of whisky cooling in a bathtub.
Cincinnati May 16 Primo Carnera Italian heavyweight is suspended indefinitely by the National Boxing Association along with his managers Stanley Isaacs Leon Lee William Duffy Walter Freedman and Frank Churchill. The ban applies in 28 states plus California and New York where he had prior sanctions.
Dr. Stanley High editor of The Christian Herald warns at the Institute of Religion that ministers should shift focus from prohibition to liquor as the moral issue. He says wets have framed law violation as patriotic and urges a temperance revival to educate youth away from drink as before the Volstead Act.

The west side of the Ash-Consault Street bridge in Toledo was wrecked when rammed by the freighter Crete of Interlake Steamship Co. The pilot house cabin and fore mast of the freighter were seriously damaged.
Columbus May 16. Repair work in cell blocks at the Ohio Penitentiary continued rapidly as guard strength was cut and Warden P E Thomas prepared to resume full control. The so called non violent rebellion inside the walls has been declared broken officials indicated. Prisoners had threatened to refuse work until the warden was ousted. Thomas said it is now a question of who we will permit to work rather than who wants to work.
The Ohio Archaeological and Historical Society will start a modern fireproof museum at Schoenbrunn State Memorial Park this summer after an appropriation was allocated. The Zoar Historical Society seeks about 10000 for a King’s Palace project at Zoar with a June meeting to discuss state aid.
In Chicago a man killed his wife, two sons, and wounded a daughter after an interest notice on a $100 loan for a kitchen stove. The 14 month old boy died, the mother and two other sons were critically wounded at Land Hospital. The husband fled after the attack.
Massachusetts report details Calvin and Grace Coolidge beginning moves to the $50 000 The Beeches residence in Northampton Mass. A five ton van arrives with six men to transfer furniture from the previous apartment to storage and later to begin moving into the new house amid gray skies. Michael J Gleason coordinates the operation with Gleason Brothers supplying the large moving van and staff in new overalls and slippers to protect the floors.
A band of wire thieves operating for 18 months near Nelsonville was broken up when three members, Harry Green William Green and John Dunbar from near Xenia, confessed stealing hundreds of pounds of copper wire from mines around Nelsonville and Logan. A fourth man Elmer Sharp was arrested in Nelsonville. wire stolen would fill a freight car and is valued in the thousands. Grand larceny charges to be filed at arraignment before Magistrate Carl H Porter.
Amesville May 16 John McDaniel 44 died this morning while plowing corn on his farm near Amesville. Cause believed cerebral hemorrhage. Survived by widow Mary four children Mae Ada Glenn Siebert Eileen a brother Ezra McDaniel North Liberty Ind and four sisters Mary Wolfe Florence Morris Spicer Keirns Nellie Brown Funeral plans not yet set. Formerly ran a general merchandise store before farming.
