Roosevelt asks Congress to provide over 1.0 billion dollars in supplemental funds to complete the 1934 recovery program. The request includes appropriations for the RFC relief, Veterans affairs, Army Air, food control, public works, and other agencies to sustain relief and recovery efforts.
The American Federation of Labor schedules a direct clash with the White House over the Connery 30 hour work week bill and two other labor measures. Labor unions push a petition for a May 28 vote requiring 145 signatures, with 31 gathered, as advocates break with the administration after Perkins’ three day ultimatum.
President Roosevelt unveils a six cornered relief plan aiding midwestern farmers in drought recovery. Weather Bureau forecasts showers after yesterday's heat spell, while the plan expands direct relief, funds stock feed and emergency forage crops, enables cattle purchases, relaxes wheat and corn hog contracts, lowers rail freight, and boosts water supplies.
PUT-IN-BAY May 15 The Lake Erie islands mail plane piloted by Milton Hershberger went down two miles west of Lakeside from an engine failure at about 2000 feet He escaped unhurt and clung to a wing until a fishing boat rescued him after he surfaced like a cork.

Levi Peakman aged 40 of Groveport died before Monday and Frederick Palm aged 58 of Groveport was killed when a sidecar struck a post in a motorcycle accident.
The Advisory Council of the Athens County Board of Health elected Ira Whitmore of York Township to a seat on the county board after a heated meeting at Athens City Hall. The vote was 9 to 8 with Mrs. O. C. Bird as the opposing nominee. Dr. J. M. Higgins denied Dr. J. A. Malone’s statements, and R. L. Marlow demanded an apology from Malone.
Neal Bowman, an escaped Ohio convict charged with two Kentucky murders, pleaded not guilty at arraignment before Circuit Judge Kerrick Alcorn. The trial was set for May 22. Bowman was escorted from reformatory under heavy guard to face the court as spectators gathered outside. He is accused of killing George Kaufman in Nelson County and Comer Franklin in Boyle County.
McARTHUR May 15 The County Grand Jury on Monday indicted William Pyke 36 on a first degree murder charge in the death of his uncle Wesley P whose body was found after he disappeared two months ago Two second degree murder counts were returned against Mrs Willis Arick and Ruth M 20 a former maid in the William Fike home Pyke officers said killed his uncle robbed him of 9 and went to West Virginia Miss Miller after the slaying

John Mackin, 72, claimed a world beer drinking record by draining an eight ounce stein in one minute 57 seconds. He said the feat came about due to a miscue rather than a formal contest and shattered the previous mark by about a full minute.
In Pierre on May 15 the government rested in the kidnapping conspiracy trial of Mrs Fern Sarkey and Mrs Alvina Kohler after federal investigators testified to link them with the abduction of Charles Boettcher II a Denver broker. Defense planned motions for directed verdicts.
Dewey Grubbins, a Huntington hotel employee, was killed when a car driven by A E Randolph overturned on Route 7 near Crown City. Randolph was injured and hospitalized. Eyewitness Stanley Swain saw the vehicle flip. coroner Dr W L Brown stated Grubbins’ skull was crushed. Identification came from envelopes found on the victim.
Seven crew members of the Light ship Nantucket are believed drowned after the White Star Liner Olympic rammed the lighthouse and lit the Nantucket in fog near the New England Canal. The collision occurred as the inbound liner forced its way through the fog bounded by the lightship.
A mob of more than 500 striking longshoremen attacked a stockade housing 400 non-strikers at Los Angeles harbor around midnight. One man was killed and 21 injured with others lightly hurt. two could die. Authorities reported extensive damage and ongoing danger.
In Marion on May 15 AP reports Francis M. Parish aged 4 died last night and his wife Sabina aged 83, who had married 66 years, sobbed in another bed for minutes before she died. The brief notice notes the couple's long marriage and shared grief.
Across two separate incidents, June Robles of Tucson and William F Gettle of Beverly Hills were rescued alive after kidnap plots with demands of 15 000 and 75 000 dollars. Police report three men jailed over Gettle abduction. Robles case pending arrests.
