Rumac Inc owes Athens County 215000 in property and real estate taxes and plans to pay by June 1 after officer Tom Lloyd scheduled a meeting with Prosecutor Claire Ball Jr. Lloyd also intends to meet Ohio University officials next week.
In Columbus the House GOP trimmed Gov. Gilligan’s requested $1.6 billion in new taxes for the next two years, halving the income tax proposal and outlining cuts totaling $425 million in education and $400 million in welfare. Speaker Kurfess said the budget would move to a floor vote next week.
After an eight month trial, 13 Black Panthers are found not guilty on all 12 counts. Jury of diverse backgrounds delivered verdicts in under two hours, shocking observers and prompting relief among defendants and supporters. Some acquittees fled, bail forfeitures discussed.

Senate Foreign Relations Chairman J W Fulbright warned Secretary William P Rogers that executive resistance to reasserting congressional authority could provoke a dangerous reaction on Capitol Hill.
Fulbright opens with a warning as Rogers attends to present the Nixon administration stance on curbing presidential power to send U.S. troops without Congress. Rogers plans to oppose Javits Eagleton and Stennis proposed limits, arguing such actions could trigger a constitutional imbalance and drive Congress to excess.
Grace Slick of the Jefferson Airplane suffered a concussion when her car struck a retaining wall on the foggy Golden Gate Bridge approach. The CHP said the 31 year old, alone in a new foreign auto, slid into the wall on Thursday.
