Glouster Soldier in Germany During Grand Slam II Exercise
Pfc James L. Thompson, 23, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert W. Thompson of Glouster Route 2, participated in Exercise Grand Slam II in Germany May 2 to 7 with the 14th Armored Cavalry Regiment. He entered the Army in 1961, trained at Fort Knox, and is a tank crewman in Troop G, 2d Recon Squadron. He is a Homer Union High School 1957 graduate and formerly worked for Ford Motor Co. in Cleveland.

Ames Bern High School selects valedictorian Carolyn Marquis and salutatorian Jo Fisher. Marquis holds 3.8 GPA, active in FHA, honor society, and UN contest results. Fisher has 3.6 GPA, cheerleader, GAA president, plans to attend beauty academy. During Waterloo Local School, Anita Chesser and Judy Carman named valedictorian and salutatorian with 4.0 and 3.52 GPAs respectively. Chesser to nursing training, Carman active in honor society DAR FHA and library work. Graduation set for May 19 with baccalaureate at 2 p.m. and commencement at 8 p.m.
