Berlin reports Chancellor Scheidemann declaring the peace terms unacceptable as he addresses the national assembly. He urged signing only a peace Germany can fulfill, warning that the treaty would undermine German independence and threaten European peace. Strong opposition comes from various Germans though inquiries suggest a later acceptance at a showdown. East Prussia districts threaten armed resistance over the Polish corridor.
Two transports brought 4 384 soldiers home from France. The Von Steuben carried 2 940 and the Louisiana 1 444. Units listed include the 120th machine gun battalion with 761 enlisted men and 25 officers, the 328rd field artillery company with 1 372 enlisted and 54 officers, and the 107th ammunition train with 1 137 enlisted and 34 officers, all assigned to multiple camps and units.
Columbus Ohio May 13 health department officials warned to kill the flies now to prevent them from breeding into millions of offspring during the summer.

Corporal Chapin from the local recruiting office will visit Meigs county this week to recruit men for the army. He will visit Middleport Wednesday Pom eroy Thursday and Minersville Syr acuse and Racine Friday. Information on the sixty dollar bonus army insurance and other matters can be obtained at the local army office. George W. Zeigler has enlisted for three years in the motor transportation service for overseas duty. Zeigler lives at Trimble.
In Oakland California on May 13 18 000 electrical workers threaten a nationwide disruption in Washington Oregon California and Nevada if telephone girls wage demands are not met. The ultimatum was issued after a large union meeting.
The Red Cross through the Athens County Home Service appeals to relatives to let wounded soldiers remain in government care until fully recovered. About 30 to 40 county men are at Camp Sherman or other hospitals. The appeal cites food, medical care, and nursing, and notes vocational training and government support during convalescence.
Glens Falls N Y May 13 The pulp sulfate and paper mill strike continues with thirty two International Paper Company mills in the state shut down. H W Sullivan first vice president of the union from Orono Maine has arrived to supervise the response for the mills.
Water consumers who missed the discount must settle by May 20 or water will be shut off. A one dollar penalty will be applied when service is restored, and the May 10 deadline passed.
Edith Cavell’s remains, escorted by British and Belgian troops, are moved from Brussels to Ostend and then to England. A military funeral is planned at Westminster Abbey followed by burial in Norwich, with sisters and a brother-in-law accompanying the procession.
Chillicothe Ohio May 13 Saloons remain closed by mayor order after a disturbance sparked by two returning soldiers and a negro porter. Mayor Story said bars will not reopen until every saloonist promises soldiers cannot enter. Soldiers were confined to Camp Sherman overnight by a General order.
In Mount Clemens Michigan on May 13 the Ford Tribune libel case entered its second day. Ford seeks to narrow the issue to whether an editorial harmed him while Tribune counsel push a change in plea to include Solomon News Company as agents for The Tribune in Detroit.

New York May 13 A shoe box full of alleged love notes from Miss Speare's suit against Miss Goldstein surfaces in court. F H Speare actor figures in the case as the notes range from one million to a billion kisses.
Akron city council approved an ordinance to move clocks back one hour to Central Standard Time immediately awaiting mayoral signature. Canton city council unanimously voted to end daylight saving and revert to Eastern Time at 2 a.m. next Sunday.
